Brens work changes as ideas evolve, but fundamentally her paintings whether abstract or figurative, will always be about multi-layered, dense,textured surfaces. Bren has been concentrating on ageing and the effects of the elements on sculpture, the landscape, and the human form, emphasising their collapse and disintegration. Destroying and re-building layers is part of the working process resulting in fragile and unstable surfaces.
